BIANCA PHOS

WORK

BIOGRAPHY

Bianca Phos (*Vienna) studied “Textual Sculpture” (H. Zobernig) and “Art and Time / Video” (D. Margreiter) at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. She also studied at HFBK University of Fine Arts Hamburg in 2019 and Bezalel University of Art and Design Jerusalem in 2018.

Bianca Phos’ interdisciplinary and cross-media practice, particularly in sculpture and drawing, explores sociosomatic relations and mutual dependencies that connect humans with material forms, machines, or other organic bodies. By challenging traditional conceptions of subjectivity and reconfiguring them as relational, interdependent, and co-evolving systems, her work probes novel models of embodied posthuman subjectivity. Considering eco-systemic and techno-social change, the material qualities and gestures of her works resonate with an interest in trauma, vulnerability, and the capacity to inflict harm.

Phos’ works have been included in institutional shows at Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien (2024), Kunst Haus Wien (2022), Belvedere 21, Vienna (2019), Universalmuseum Joanneum, Graz (2016) or MUMOK, Vienna (2012). In 2021, she obtained the Emanuel & Sofie Fohn-Stipendium. Selected solo and duo exhibitions include WAF Galerie (AT), FOX (AT), Kunstraum Super (AT) and Zeller van Almsick (AT).
